One night, I got lost driving in the hills...mainly because there aren't street names, signs or addresses to speak of...or any lights, for that matter.
In fact, there are no road rules either except: give right of way at a round-about. There are no road signs, sidewalks, shoulders, or traffic lights. In fact, I've seen only one traffic light intersection on the entire island. There are only round-abouts. And no parking meters either (which, let's face it, is actually glorious! :)
Not one pharmacy had a very basic prescription I needed last week so I had to find a courier to drive it in from another city on the opposite end of the island...I got it 12 hrs after I first went intending to pick it up.

Some Grenadian doctors charge "certain people" for follow-up appointments (that may only last 3 minutes and involve a simple, "looks like everything is healing well"). When asked directly why they pick and choose who they charge more to, they might reply - without shame or hesitancy - "because you are white."
Most key service businesses (i.e., banks, post offices, consulates) are typically only open from 10-2 pm, M-F...if even that. In other words, unless you don't work, you can only get to these places if you use your lunch break to do so.
Speaking of work, if I wish to drink water at work, I must pay for it. Water is not free or easy to get.

Sometimes, things go out-of-stock in grocery stores on the island for weeks on end (for ex., apparently, once there was no butter for 31 days ...anywhere). ha. This week there is no lettuce on the island.
The streets are crawling with emaciated stray dogs and cats...and most of the cats here are black cats. So, you need to toss any superstitions given that a black cat actually will cross your path, at least 3 times a day. :)

Also, most people use pen and paper for everything (except in my office, thankfully! :) - (i.e., doctor's appointments, police logs etc. - all handwritten in tiny, ragged notebooks. :)
Ohhhhh Ju , I can't believe all the things that happen , or don't happen there . It seems like it's very ' laid back ' there . It's a ' no worries ' place . If something can't be found or something isn't there that you want , then I guess you do without !!!!
