Mt. Qua Qua

Yesterday, I climbed a mountain. Mt. Qua Qua is inland in the Grenadian jungle / rainforest and took several hours to climb up and down. I went with Bruce, a co-worker (the other post-doc), and a chef we met (David, from Tennessee) who's house-sitting here for 3 mths.  Accompanying us was a lovely dog named Spare who lives at the house David is looking after. There is a lake over a dormant volcano at the base of Mt. Qua Qua called Grand Etang Crater Lake which locals say is over 850 ft. deep. After Mt. Qua Qua, we hiked to a nearby series of waterfalls called The Seven Sisters. It was hot, very humid, muddy in many places, & most "trails" were uncleared, quite steep or dangerously narrow - but the whole day was great and the views, fantastic. At one point, a local man without teeth crossed our path.  He was barefoot and carrying a machete and asked to be our guide but we (unwisely?) passed on the offer. I also discovered there is a type of grass here called "razor grass" which is essentially serrated BLADES of grass that slice you up. :)
