Mission

This blog is devoted to my experience living in Grenada (a Caribbean island in the West Indies - 12 degrees north of the equator). I will not refer to my professional work (despite that being why I am here) but to my outside-of-work happenings. In doing so, I hope to document growth and a certain level of anticipated transformation. I am very grateful for this unique opportunity.

While it's easy to focus on the negative in life, especially in the face of fear, loss, setback or disappointment, I've learned that doing so only leaves me feeling blind and burned. So, as ironic as it sounds, my mission here is to further strengthen my ability to see the sun. And to be kinder too, to myself and to others, because compassion, like clarity, is always worth enhancing.

Voltaire said, "Life is a shipwreck but we must not forget to sing in the lifeboats." Already, I've felt a bit shipwrecked; lost at sea only to be stranded on a random island. And then I remember that I chose this - as much as this place also chose me. With that, and Voltaire in mind, I plan to sing as I salvage myself. This year is for reconstruction and self-negotiation, and the blog; my song.

I hope you keep battling the struggles you face so bravely and continue enjoying the sweeter moments in Grenada. Love ya! Have fun with your mum this week. xoxo
